European Heart Congress Session/ Tracks

1. Heart Disease:

Heart disease is generally described as that heart is not in normal condition. A person suffering from heart disease falls sick & symptoms generally appear. The general symptoms found in a person who is suffering with heart disease are

•     Chest pain caused due to lack of blood flow to heart muscles

•     Palpitations

•     Weakness caused due to lack of oxygen supply

•     Cyanosis a condition where skin turns blue colour due to lack of oxygen in bloodstream to supply to the cells

  1. Rheumatic heart disease
  2. Valvular heart disease
  3.  Cerebrovascular heart disease
  4. Inflammatory heart disease

    2. Heart Failure:

Cardiac arrest or heart failure is a sudden loss of blood flow resulting from the failure of the heart to effectively pump. Heart Failure is also referred as Congestive heart failure (CHF). Narrowed arteries in heart or hypertension, weakens the heart or makes it stiff to fill and pump efficiently which leads to heart failure

The symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Excessive tiredness
  • Chest pain
  • Angina

Heart failure treatments can improve the signs and symptoms of heart failure and help you live longer.

2.1 High-Output Heart Failure

2.2 Right-Side Heart Failure

2.3 Diastolic Heart Failure

2.4 Systolic Heart Failure

3. Atherosclerosis:

Atherosclerosis is usually defined as hardening and narrowing of the arteries due to build-up of plaque it silently and slowly blocks arteries, putting blood flow at risk.

It causes heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral vascular diseases which together are called cardiovascular disease.

·Carotid arteries

  • Coronary arteries

4. Cardiovascular diseases:

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) includes group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels and they include:

Coronary heart disease where the of the blood vessels supplying the heart muscle;

Cerebrovascular disease includes the disease of the blood vessels supplying the brain;

Peripheral arterial disease includes the disease of blood vessels supplying the arms and legs;

Rheumatic heart disease includes the damage to the heart muscle and heart valves from rheumatic fever, caused by streptococcal bacteria;

congenital heart disease includes the malformations of heart structure existing at birth;

Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism includes the blood clots in the leg veins, which can dislodge and move to the heart and lungs.

5. Hypertension:

Hypertension, which is defined as high blood pressure, it is one of the most common medical problems. Hypertension does not usually show any symptoms, and it is not usually diagnosed in the early stages. It is one of the important causes of heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, and other serious medical problems.

However hypertension is so common and consequential, it is important for everyone to have their blood pressure checked periodically.

Prehypertension describes blood pressure that is higher than the desirable range, but not high enough to be labelled hypertension which would be 120/80mmhg

5.1 Malignant Hypertension
5.2 Primary Hypertension
5.3 Secondary Hypertension

6. Pediatric cardiology:

Pediatric Cardiology is a branch of Pediatrics that deals with heart and heart related disorders of children/Pediatrics. Basically heart is the first internal organ formed from the cells of the Inner Cell Mass (ICM) or epiblast of the blastocyst in early embryogenesis. The role of Pediatric cardiologists includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery diseases, heart failures, valvular heart diseases and electrophysiology in children/Pediatrics.  A medical practitioner who specializes in this field of Pediatric cardiology is Pediatric cardiologist.

  Pediatric Oncology

  Pediatric Cardiac Tumors

  Pediatric Kawasaki Disease

  Pediatric Atherosclerosis

  Tetralogy Of Fallot In Infants

  Pediatric Pericarditis

  Rheumatic heart disease

  Pediatric Aortic Stenosis

  Pediatric Pulmonary Atresia

7. Interventional Cardiology:

Interventional cardiology is a special branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases. An interventional cardiologist is the one who have an extra experience of one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting. An interventional cardiologist is the one who have experience in one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease

A large number of procedures are been performed on the heart by catheterization method. This most commonly & widely used techniques involves the insertion of a sheath into the femoral artery and in practice, any large peripheral artery or vein and cannulating the heart under X-ray visualization which would be most commonly fluoroscopy. The radial artery is technique which may also be used for cannulation

  Interventional cardiology treats many conditions like:

·         Coronary artery disease: It occurs due to a narrowing of the arteries which supply the heart muscle with blood and oxygen.

·         Heart valve disease: It occurs when the valves which control blood flow into the heart’s chambers are not working correctly.

·         Peripheral vascular disease: Heart can also be affected by other veins and arteries which are in other parts of your body & causes clogged or hardened veins and arteries which are in other parts of your body.

7.1 Invasive Cardiology
7.2 Non-Invasive Cardiology

8. Cardiometabolic Health and Diabetes:

Cardiometabolic compliactions can cause many diseases where a wide spectrum of different factors including lifestyles, diets, living environments, & related genetic factors.  Genetic factors may include hypertension, Diabetics etc. Cardiometabolic compliactions if unrecognised leads to cardiometabolic risk where you are prone to have diabetes, heart diseases & stroke.

 People suffering with mental illness have high rates of diabetes risks which may lead to many health problems including heart diseases. It is essential to determine your risk level & knowing how to decrease your risk & help you live a longer & healthier life.

Diabetes mellitus is caused due to the metabolic disorders where the blood sugar level rises for a prolonged period of time. The symptoms of high blood sugar include frequent urination, increased thirst & weight gain. If left untreated, diabetes can cause serious issues.

Acute complications include hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state, ketoacidosis or death

9. Cardiac-oncology:

    Cardiac oncology is also called as cardiovascular oncology is a field of medicine by where molecular & clinical modifications in cardiovascular system during the treatment of cancer due to chemo & target therapy.

Cardiovascular complications that are occurring due to cancer & its treatment have become a major clinical issue which may lead to acute complications during therapy which may limit the effectiveness of cancer treatment.

10. Current Research in Cardiology:

Cardiology conferences focuses on the current research in cardiology where the new innovative methods that are emerging in the field of cardiology. It gives a brief explanation on   Interventional cardiology, Cardiac Nursing, Thrombolytic therapy and Cardiac rehabilitation. There are many associations and societies related to General Cardiology, Interventional cardiology, Pediatric cardiology etc., in USA

11. Sports and Exercise Cardiology:

The objective of the Sports Cardiology is to work with the athletes along the spectrum competitive exercisers, professional athletes to weekend warriors to help them achieve these goals.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the one of the main reasons of death in exercising young athletes, and is generally set off by problems such as structural heart disorders or electrical circuitry issues which are not generally found during routine physical examinations. Most of the conditions that cause sudden cardiac death in young athletes are determined by an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG), a non-invasive test which calculates the electrical activity of the heart.

12. Molecular Cardiology:

Molecular cardiology is a newly developed technological method in the field of cardiology that aims to administer molecular biological techniques for the mechanistic investigation, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular & heart diseases.

This innovation has changed our theoretical thinking of cardiovascular development, disease etiology, and pathophysiology. Although molecular cardiology is still at a very early stage, it has opened a assuring pathway for understanding and controlling cardiovascular disease. A great interest of the laboratory is the description of novel circulating factors that regulate cardiac biology, including aging and hypertrophy.
