Biography

Dr. Abdulla graduated in Medicine from University of BC in 1975. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology with training at UBC, Univ. of California Los Angeles & Univ. of Southern California. He has Fellowships in Internal Medicine, Chest Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology in Canada and the US. He has additional Special certification in Nuclear Cardiology, Coronary CT angiography, X ray and Nuclear radiation safety His Cardiology experience spans the fields of Clinical, Academic and Program development in North America, Asia & Africa. He has had Academic appointments at University of Southern California, Laurentian University, University of Toronto, University of Ottawa and The Aga Khan University in Pakistan where he was Professor of Medicine. He was the first Head of the Tertiary Cardiology program at AKU, which he established and led. He assisted the planning of the AKU East Africa Cardiac Program in Kenya. He developed and authored the Strategic plan for that program in 2002. Previous to that he established the Nuclear Cardiology program at Lancaster California. He was Head of NE Ontario Cardiovascular Program, where he established Nuclear Cardiology, Pacemaker and Rehabilitation units. He established the new Cardiac Catheterization Program in Peterborough, Ontario.. Started the Echocardiography lab at Aga khan Hospital Daressalaam. He has served on several Boards as Executive Member and Chairman. Authored many peer-reviewed publications and participated in many clinical trials.
