Biography
Dr. Marco De Carlo received the degree in Cardiology and a doctorate in Cardiopulmonary Pathophysiology at the University of Pisa, Italy. Since 2006, He work as a vice-director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Professor at the School of Specialization in Cardiology of Pisa University. He is the author of 170 scientific papers, with >10,000 citations and an h index of 39. His main areas of interest include coronary interventions, transcatheter valvular interventions, and peripheral artery disease. He was the Chairperson of the Working Group on Aorta and Peripheral Vascular of the ESC for the term 2016-2018.
Research Interest
He is active in clinical research in particular in the fields of the interventional treatment of coronary artery disease (acute coronary syndromes), carotid and peripheral artery disease, and valvular heartdisease (transcatheter aortic and mitral valve interventions). I contributed to several multi-center clinical trials as Primary Investigator or Co-Primary Investigator, including ATLANTIS, GALILEO,BRAVO 2/3, PLATINUM PLUS, ACCOAST, ROSPREC, SPIRIT-WOMAN, INSTANT,RINSPIRATION, GENOUS, STEEPLE, GISSOC II, ON-TIME, BLAZE, FINESSE. He also initiated or contributed to numerous spontaneous clinical studies at his Institution
